RBS/ABC CERTIFICATION

Assembly Bill 1221, passed in 2017, initiated the Responsible Beverage Service Training Program (RBSTP) with the aim of mitigating alcohol-related harm within local communities. This program, overseen by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), targets on-premises servers of alcoholic beverages and their managers, equipping them with knowledge about the risks associated with serving alcohol to minors and over-serving patrons.

Certification is mandatory with certifications valid for three years. Recertification before the expiration date is necessary to maintain validity. Notifications are sent to RBS servers and license administrators to ensure timely recertification

The mission of the Responsible Beverage Service Training Program is to deliver effective training to servers and managers, aiming to mitigate harm associated with underage drinking and alcohol overuse in California communities.

In essence, the RBS Certification Program stands as a vital initiative in promoting responsible alcohol service, safeguarding both patrons and communities alike.
